'Tis the season to be merry!

This month's subject for the Blog-merry-go-round is:
~:Summer
:~
I like all the seasons in their different ways.
My summer have been rather hectic and filled with work and by that I not mean creative work, I am afraid. However there have been many lovely days sitting in the shade with a gentle breeze swooshing by. I like the wind, it makes you feel that things are alive, something is happening.

Summer is
swallows in the sky, the wind through the leaves, the smell of barbecues in the air, poppies and sweet peas.
Reading on the balcony, rhubarb lemonade, sea gulls, thunder storms, and that darker shade of green in the trees and grass. Ice cream, wasps, and memories.
Sunny days at my grand parents, cows, cherries,
and annoying flies.

At the parents' for a day

I'm at the computer at mom & dad's. Seeing my mother and auntie take the tour through the garden. They are both very interested in gardening and have to take a stroll to see what new that has started to bloom and grow. I have already taken my round earlier, and Lilly showed the holes she's made where there appearently lives voles.. So now she digs and later the cat, Mizzy, sits there and wait for them to peek out.. Teamwork, eh?

I have had today off and it is already 6:45pm. I will sort out all the old books and comics that are lying around in my old room. I have plans for them, to sell them if I can. Not the TinTin, Spirou and such though, those are staying! But I suppose I need to look them through and make a list to take to the comicbook guy. :)
There are a few piles.. Phew!
Then I had planned to start knitting on a mitten for work - it's an assignment from my weekend work I mean.. and watch this film that I borrowed from my brother - "Foodmatters", I think it will be quite interesting.. and then..

yes, I am a bit of a time opitimist, see...

What inspires us?

I am awfully late with my BlogMerryGoRound this time, but here it is at last!
This time this is the question and theme:

"What inspires us?

- a peak into journals, pinboards, folders
or wherever we keep our little snippets of inspiring stuff... -

I have a bunch of notebooks where I write and draw down ideas, inspiring things and such that is good to save for later. Like quotes and words of wisdom that I like need to be saved so I can embroider them or write with ink and nib pen for example.

Then there's the books with different techniques, fabrics and patterns. I somehow always seem to prefer the things from times past, even thought a lot of the modern embroideries are quite fun and well done, I like the feeling of the old ones best.

Then there is of course always art. Having studied art history I have come across quite many different kinds, and know what an inspiration it is to look at details in paintings. You can find so many different embroideries, fabrics, jewellery and such both well done, and quite silly ones.
I don't mean just 'high art', there is such inspiration in illustrations of different kinds and once again old pattern books ( the one in the front is from the 1920ies that I found in a second hand shop.)

John William Waterhouse
"I am half-sick of shadows, said the lady of Shalott"

Magazines magazines, well I seem to get a few of those... Then again I keep all of them and look through many times later. I mostly pick out a heap that are from the same month or season and flicker through and make notes and such that I find. I then save it up until I later look through some of my notebooks in hunt for inspiration and make an idea into my own version of it.

A lot of things that inspire me can't be put in a book or drawer, for example
Things that grows:

This was a little peek into my notebooks and creative mess...

My drawer o' yarn!
Please do have a look to see what the others in the BlogMerryGoRound do to hunt for inspiration and how to keep it for later :)

I have finally added some new things at Signerat.se! This embroidered bracelet amongst other things. Life have sort of come in between lately, so there haven't been much updated or created... but now it is time!

Litany Against Fear
I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.
