Needlework

I've started on more freehand embroidery, I just need something to peek at to get the shape somewhat right. My aim is to make the motifs look like a bird or a tree, for example - and not a certain kind of bird or tree.
It is really fun and I am thinking about where to put them, since I want them to be used somehow. Of course I could just make them into some kind of wall displays, but I'd rather make them wearable or on a cushion or something.
